Gender, Gender Identity, and Pronouns

At Healthie, we believe that diversity and inclusivity are critical in healthcare.

To help providers appropriately document a client's gender, gender identity, and pronouns we've added an option within the Client Profile > Actions > Client Info > Personal Information

Gender & Gender Identity

Within the Gender field, you'll see an "Other" option. When Other is selected, a new field for "Gender Identity" will appear. You can free text your client's gender identify within this field.

Please note, there is a separate "Sex on File for Insurance" field, as insurance payers require a traditional selection on a CMS 1500 claim form. Clients will not see these gender fields or indicators.

Gender/identity information can be captured through a " Smart Field" within Healthie, which can be added to forms (ie. Intake or Charting forms) and will automatically update your client's profile.

You can find this field by navigating to Forms > Form Builder > Select "Client Info" from the Question Bank drop-down > Gender Identity

A great use case is to drag the Gender Identity field onto your Healthie Smart Form, or the custom intake form that you utilize. This field is a "free-text" field, meaning that the provider (or client) can write in their response.

Client Pronouns

For pronouns, you'll see the option to select:

  • She/Her
  • He/Him
  • They/Them
  • Other (Custom Pronoun)

This field can be added to any form in Healthie. Adjust the Quest Bank to "Client Info" and locate the Pronouns field. This field can be dragged & dropped onto your form. Learn more about building intake form. Getting Started: Intake Forms

When the form is completed either by a client or their provider (charting note, or intake form), the client's profile will automatically be updated with the client's pronoun selections.

A custom pronoun can be added by selecting "Other" from the drop-down. Type the desire pronoun(s) and click the option "Create [Custom Pronoun] as a new Pronouns"
