How to clear your browser cache
Your browser saves copies of websites you visit to help pages load faster. Sometimes this saved data (called the "cache") can cause problems, like showing outdated information or making a page display incorrectly. Clearing it is a quick fix.
Google Chrome
- Click the three dots (⋮) in the top-right corner of the browser.
- Go to Settings.
- On the left side, click Privacy and security.
- Click Delete browsing data.
- Set the time range to All time.
- Check the box next to Cached images and files. (Uncheck anything else you don't want to delete.)
- Click Delete data.
Microsoft Edge
- Click the three dots (⋯) in the top-right corner of the browser.
- Go to Settings.
- On the left side, click Privacy, search, and services.
- Under "Delete browsing data," click Choose what to clear.
- Set the time range to All time.
- Check the box next to Cached images and files.
- Click Clear now.
Mozilla Firefox
- Click the three lines (☰) in the top-right corner of the browser.
- Go to Settings.
- On the left side, click Privacy & Security.
- Scroll down to the "Cookies and Site Data" section.
- Click Clear Data.
- Check the box next to Cached Web Content.
- Click Clear.
Safari (Mac)
- With Safari open, click Safari in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Click Settings (or Preferences on older versions).
- Go to the Advanced tab.
- At the bottom, check Show features for web developers (or "Show Develop menu in menu bar").
- Close Settings.
- In the menu bar, click Develop.
- Click Empty Caches.
Safari (iPhone / iPad)
- Open the Settings app on your device.
- Scroll down and tap Apps, then tap Safari.
- Scroll down and tap Clear History and Website Data.
- Tap Clear History and Data to confirm.
Note: This will also clear your browsing history and sign you out of some websites.
Tips
- Clearing your cache will not delete your saved passwords or bookmarks.
- You may need to log back in to some websites afterward.
- If you're still experiencing issues after clearing the cache, try restarting your browser.
