Using PROMIS & HealthMeasures Forms in Healthie
Healthie provides a flexible custom form builder that supports the creation and auto-scoring of clinical questionnaires. PROMIS measures are not included in Healthie's standard forms library, but we can work with your organization to build them out for your account upon request. Before doing so, there are important licensing and copyright considerations that you, as the administering organization, are responsible for.
Your Responsibilities
Copyright & Licensing
PROMIS measures are copyrighted instruments owned by HealthMeasures (Northwestern University / NIH). Before using any PROMIS form in your Healthie account, you should confirm:
- Whether the specific measure requires a license or permission to use
- Any applicable licensing fees or restrictions
- Who holds the copyright for the measure
Electronic Administration Permission
Integrating a PROMIS measure into an electronic or digital platform — such as Healthie — requires HealthMeasures Electronic Administration Permission (HEAP). This includes a permission letter and a screenshot review to ensure the electronic administration retains validity. You can learn more at HealthMeasures.net.
EHR / Platform-Specific Licensing
If you are using PROMIS measures that are not part of a pre-licensed library (e.g., your EHR's built-in measure catalog), you will need to independently confirm whether the measure can be implemented on your chosen platform and under what terms.
How Healthie Can Help
Healthie can assist with:
- Building out custom forms based on your specifications
- Configuring auto-scoring logic for your forms (available for Enterprise Plan)
- Technical implementation and troubleshooting
Healthie's role is to ensure the technology functions correctly. The decision to administer a specific measure, and compliance with all associated licensing and copyright requirements, rests with your organization as the provider.
