Healthie's E-Labs Direct is a built-in lab ordering solution that allows clinicians to order, track, and receive lab results directly within Healthie (and/or via Healthie's API). Healthie also supports linking 3rd party lab vendors with your Healthie account, learn more here.

Benefits of Healthie's E-Labs Direct

E-Labs Direct empowers doctors and wellness providers—including dietitians, functional medicine practitioners, naturopaths, and integrative health professionals—to seamlessly order lab tests for assessing overall health, identifying deficiencies, and personalizing care plans.

Integrating lab ordering directly within Healthie offers several key benefits:

  • Seamless workflow integration – Order labs instantly from the Client Profile or within charting, eliminating the need for extra portal logins.
  • Automated data entry – Patient demographics auto-populate from the chart, reducing manual input and saving time.
  • Effortless results management – Lab reports are automatically returned to Healthie, keeping all records centralized.
  • Flexible payment options – Offer cash-pay or insurance-based lab orders, depending on your preferred setup.

This streamlined process enhances efficiency, reduces administrative burden, and ensures providers can focus on delivering high-quality care.


How to Use E-Labs Direct

Healthie supports two different configurations for E-Labs direct, please review the options below:

Option 1) Link your existing lab vendor account within Healthie. 

Healthie enables you to connect your existing Quest, LabCorp, or Bioreference account with Healthie to enable direct lab ordering within the Healthie platform. This will allow prescribers and/or support staff to place lab orders and receive results without having to leave the platform.

Once enabled, lab orders can be placed in two ways:

  • Place lab order labs through the Client Profile
  • Place lab orders through your charting workflows

This option also facilitates a more holistic and streamlined experience for your clients. Clients will automatically receive email and SMS notifications from Healthie prompting them through the lab fulfillment process.

Available for: Enterprise Plan customers only at this time. Subscribe to this portal card to be notified when this option is available for more plans. In the interim, if you do not have an account with a lab vendor, you can reach out directly to Quest, LabCorp, or Bioreference to get set up.

Payment Type: Client Insurance and Cash-Pay supported, configured to your preference.

Pricing: $10/month per ordering provider enrolled, and $2/month per non-NPI user who can order on behalf of the providers.

Implementation Timeline: Outlined below for Quest & Labcorp accounts.

Option 2) Add Quest, LabCorp, or Bioreference lab orders to Healthie Client Packages.

If you do not have a direct lab vendor account, you are still supported with ordering Quest, LabCorp, and Bioreference labs through Healthie.

Select specific lab orders or lab panels to add to a client package within Healthie. Clients can purchase that package and will be prompted to fulfill their lab order at a lab draw site. Lab results will automatically be received within Healthie account for both the ordering provider, and client, to review.

This option is a great approach for customers without a direct lab vendor account, or for those who need physician network services (to review and interpret lab orders). Clients can purchase labs in all states besides AZ, NY, NJ, and RI due to state regulations (this is not Healthie or lab vendor specific).

Available for: Plus Plan and above.

Payment Type: Cash Pay Only

Implementation Timeline

🔹 Connecting Quest Accounts

The process of adding an existing Quest account to our interface typically takes 5 weeks (starting when Quest reviews and accepts the enrollment form). This timeline is determined by Quest’s internal processes, which include:

  • Completing technical setup to connect your account to our API
  • Conducting end-to-end testing for both ordering and results delivery

🔹 Connecting Labcorp Accounts

For Labcorp accounts, the integration timeline is also 5 weeks (starting when Labcorp reviews and accepts the enrollment form). Labcorp follows a similar process, ensuring your account is connected, tested, and fully functional within Healthie.

🔹 Why This Timeline?

We partner with a third-party platform that facilitates the technical connection between your Quest or Labcorp account and Healthie. The timelines above are based on their coordination with the lab vendors to complete the required technical setup.

Please note, the 5 weeks timeline begins once the lab vendor has accepted / approved the enrollment form

We want to be fully transparent about these steps so you can plan accordingly during the implementation process. If you are transitioning from another labs setup (ie. Change Labs via Healthie) you can continue using that setup during the enablement process to prevent a disruption in your workflows.


Transition from Change Healthcare to Healthie E-Labs Direct

When E-Labs Direct is released, it will be at Feature Parity with Healthie's Integration with Change Healthcare. You don't have to make this transition (we will continue to support our integration with Change Healthcare E-Labs for existing mutual customers) we recommend making this transition.
