E-Labs Direct: Place Lab Orders in Healthie
Healthie enables you to connect your existing Quest, LabCorp, or Bioreference account with Healthie to enable direct lab ordering within the Healthie platform. This will allow prescribers and/or support staff to place lab orders and receive results without having to leave the platform.
When E-Labs Direct is enabled for your account, client demographic information will be auto-filled from their chart. There’s no need to log into a separate system or search for the client again.

Lab Ordering Permissions
E-Labs Direct must be enabled for your account in order to use the below-mentioned ordering workflows. Learn more here.
Once enabled, please review your team member permissions to ensure the following are enabled for the necessary team members:
- Can view labs
- Can order labs
With E-Labs Direct, support staff that you have indicated as Users during the E-Labs Direct enablement process will be able to place lab orders on behalf of Physician Reviewers.
Order Labs from Client Profile
Healthie enables lab ordering to happen directly within your Client's Profile Overview, and supports a convenient way to view medications, prescriptions, and lab orders in one place.
Order Labs from Charting Workflows
Healthie enables lab ordering to happen directly within your charting workflows, allowing lab ordering to happen in real time without leaving the charting section.
Click E-Labs button from Quick Profile.
When actively viewing or writing a charting note, you'll see the client's Quick Profile on the right hand side.
Scroll to Order E-Labs.
The ordering modal will appear within the charting area, preventing you from having to leave your charting workflow.
Place a Lab Order
Regardless of whether you're ordering a lab through the Client Profile, or your charting workflows, the modal and ordering process will be the same. Let's walk through these steps.
Select your lab vendor.
The list of lab vendors will be configured to your account. If you are only set up with a single lab vendor, you'll by default see that vendor populated into the Lab field.
Search for your lab test.
If you do not see a lab test or lab panel you can contact us and we'll work with the vendors to have these lab order supported if possible.
Additionally, if you'd like to create a custom lab panel, you can email hello@gethealthie.com with the tests that you would like to include (please be specific in your request) and what you would like to name your custom panel.
If you'd like to add several tests to the order, select Add Test > Search for another test.
Select the Reviewing Physician.
Support staff, if configured for your account, are able to place orders on behalf of the Reviewing Physician / Clinician. The reviewer will be notified within Healthie when the lab results are available.
Select Billing Type.
- Patient Insurance — patient insurance will be billed
- Provider — provider will cover the cost
- Patient — patient will cash pay

When selecting Patient Insurance, you'll be prompted to include an ICD-10 code.
To finalize the order > Sumit Order.
The Reviewing Physician / Clinician will be notified when the lab results are available.
Clients will receive an email notification with their lab requisition order and instructions on how to fulfill their lab order.
