E-Rx: Electronic Prior Authorization (ePA) in the Enhanced DoseSpot User Experience
In the enhanced DoseSpot UI, ePA is integrated into the prescribing process, which improves accuracy and reduces time to treatment.
Initiate ePA
If a medication requires prior authorization, it will have a Prior Auth Required status. When you select that medication to Approve & Send, you'll be prompted to Initiate Prior Auth for Selected.
Check the EPA box within the Prior Authorization modal. Once initiated, the request will appear in the Prior Authorizations tab within Tasks. From the Prior Authorizations tab, you can review prescription details, check the ePA status and view a history log.
Note: within the Prior Authorization History/Status Log, you may see a See PA Details link. This will redirect you to a webpage with more information.
If you attempt to send a prescription without the prior authorization, you will be notified in the Actions Before Sending modal.

Prior Authorization Questions
Before approving a PA request, the Payer can request for additional information from the clinician. This is indicated by the Action Required status. Select the prescription from the list the checking the box, and click Process to complete the next steps.
The actions could include uploading relevant documents or completing an e-form. Click Start Form to complete a form, if necessary.
You'll receive a confirmation banner that your actions were successful, and the medication will move into the Pending Prescriptions tab. From there, click Approve & Send to send to the pharmacy.
Note: if a payer partially denies an ePA request, you can then click the [...] to either Cancel or Mark as Denied.
