Phone Sessions and Healthie
Within Healthie, the Appointment Settings section of an account enables account admins to customize both the provider and client scheduling experience within Healthie. This includes designating preferences for how sessions are offered by your business: in-person, video calls, or phone sessions (these are your Contact Types). Specific Appointment Types can be further customized to designate a contact type.
This article covers how phone sessions can be offered to clients.
Note: Healthie does not currently provide phone services. You can add a personal/business phone number to your Account Settings, or use a 3rd party HIPAA-compliant phone system.
Set Account Preferences for Phone Sessions
Within Healthie, you have the options to set up appointments to meet generally as a:
- Healthie Video Call
- In Person
- Phone Call
By default, all of these contact type options will be available for your appointment types, unless you edit your appointment type directly.
Phone Call Preferences
When Phone Call is selected as a contact type, a new section for Phone Call Preferences will appear. Select the option that will work better for your business/provider workflows.
Provider will call client: clients will not receive a phone number to call, instead, they will confirm their phone number at the time of scheduling and will be notified that their provider will call them.
Client should call provider: clients will see the provider phone number in the appointment types, and are directed to call this number at the time of their scheduled call. Clients will see the phone number listed in the Account Settings. Please be sure that a number is populated there.

Adjust Appointment Types for Phone Sessions
If there is a specific appointment type that you would like to offer as a phone session, you can make this adjustment within the Appointment Type Settings.
Set Availability for Phone Sessions Only
As an advanced calendaring setting, providers can set one-time or recurring availability only for appointment(s) that can be conducted via phone sessions. This can help streamline workflows if you offer a variety of contact types. Example: Designate Monday mornings only for phone sessions.
